A reminder that the Cape Town Concert Series has it’s next morning concert this coming Saturday 24 September which also opens the Cape Town Baroque Festival for 2022.

Baroque with a Twist features two multi talented musicians – Dutch violin virtuoso Tim Kliphuis and South African pianist Charl du Plessis presenting a programme of works by Bach and Vivaldi mixed with jazz arrangements of Layton and Lewis. Both Kliphuis and Du Plessis are revered for improvisation and are masters of the cross-over genre and the programme also includes their own compositions. There will also be a short in-conversation with Tim and Charl where we hear more about their music and take questions from the audience.

The concert takes place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall.

Tickets are available from https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2/seating.aspx?itemid=1517484140, but if you have any queries you can also contact us directly on info@ctconcerts.co.za and we can assist you with your booking.

The Baroque Festival then moves to St Andrews Church in Greenpoint for special performances of Thomas Tallis’s legendary 40-part motet – Spem in Alium. Forty choral singers from across Cape Town will be spread throughout the interior of the church, supported by several historical keyboard instruments.

Conducted by Patrick Cordery,  each performance will include two hearings of the work, which will give the audience the opportunity to move to a different seating position to get a second aural vantage point on the work. Performances take place on the hour from 1 to 4pm on Saturday 24 September. Further concerts then take place on Wednesday 28th and Sunday 2nd October.
