Dear Music Lovers

For our next concert – we move to a Friday evening in order to feature the world acclaimed tenor Levy Sekgapane alongside pianist, conductor and opera coach Jeremy Silver for a special recital of songs and arias.

Levy is in Cape Town for a very short period to sing in Cape Town Opera’s production of the Pearl Fishers, but very much wanted to connect further with Cape Town audiences and present a song recital. His style of singing and repertoire chosen is both popular but rarely heard in Cape Town and this really is a ‘One Night Only’ special event.

The concert takes place at 7pm in the Baxter Concert Hall on Friday 5th May.

As always the Baxter bar and restaurant are open before and after the concert for refreshments. Tickets are on sale at https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2

Levy studied at the SA College of Music, UCT and won the Belvedere Competition in 2015 followed by Operalia in 2017 – from there his career has grown to becoming one of the most sought after tenors of his voice type – particularly in Rossini and Donizetti repertoire of operas such as the Barber of Seville, L’Elisir d’Amore and La Cenorentola which he performed recently with Cecilia Bartoli. Levy released his debut album of Rossini Arias in 2019 – Giovin Fiamma. You can also find some of his performances on Youtube – such as this from Opera Malmo last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF61JKEZezA

Jeremy is well-known to Cape Town audiences for his role as head of Opera UCT and has many years of experience in the world of opera and recitals both in South Africa and Europe.

Do contact if you have any queries and we look forward to welcoming you again to the Cape Town Concert Series.

Kind regards
