Dear Music Lovers

After an incredible mix of concerts at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, the Cape Town Concert Series looks forward to supporting the next two events taking place at the Baxter through the SA College of Music.

Firstly, next Tuesday 26th July there will be a concert celebrating the music of Hendrik Hofmeyr.  Hendrik will be retiring at the end of this year, and four of his favourite musicians will present a very special concert featuring some of his works for soprano, flute, cello and piano, including two premieres.  Tickets available from Webtickets with all proceeds going towards the SA College of Music.

Following on from the 27th to 30th July the first UCT Strings Competition will take place with prize money totalling R80,000 and featuring some of South Africa’s finest up and coming string musicians. You can also get more details from gillian.lindner@uct.ac.za

We are then excited to present our first Young Artists Concert featuring pianist Leo Gevisser on Saturday 6th August at 2.30pm.  Leo is currently studying for his BMus degree at the esteemed Juilliard School of Music in New York with the legendary Jerome Lowenthal and, at just 19 years old is already creating waves of admiration wherever he plays.

His programme features works by Mozart, Sciarrino, Grieg, Scriabin and Prokofiev and also includes a short in-conversation with Leo after the concert where we hear more about his studies and future plans.

As always, the Baxter restaurant and bar will be available before and after for refreshments.  Tickets available from Webtickets, however if you would like to book directly with the Concert Series and secure your preferred seats – please email me at info@ctconcerts.co.za.

We look forward to welcoming you again at the Cape Town Concert Series and thank you for supporting classical music in Cape Town.

Kind regards
Louise Howlett
