The Cape Town Concert Series is excited to present it’s first live concert of 2021 and what better way than collaborating with musicians from the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to present The Other Side, the first of a series of concerts in which the CPO musicians show another facet of their musical personalities.
The programme opens with the CPO Brass Quintet performing two arrangements – The Battel Suite by Scheidt and the vivace from Mozart’s Divertimento. Then three duets for violin and viola with the ‘Salt & Pepper’ duo of Samantha Durrant and Maja van Dyk- Wieniawski Etudes-Caprice No. 1, Remembrance on the Bridge by South African composer Arthur Feder and the ever popular Libertango by Piazzolla. We follow with Mozart’s Serenade for Winds in E-flat K375 and finish the programme with the Shostakovich Chamber Symphony for Strings and Timpani lead by guest Concert Master Farida Bacharova.
The Concert will take place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall on Saturday 24th April. The concert will be just over an hour and will follow with a short ‘in-conversation’ with a few members where they will be happy to take questions from the audience.
