Featuring Zoe Beyers, Ian Watson, Carol Ella & Richard Jenkinson

The Cape Town Concert Series is delighted to collaborate with the Dante Quartet for an evening of Music and Conversation on Wednesday 18th October at St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Greenpoint.

The Dante Quartet is among the finest ensembles in the United Kingdom, known for its imaginative programming and impassioned performances. The Quartet was founded in 1995 and chose its name to reflect the idea of an epic journey. The Quartet is formed by two South African violinists, Zoë Beyers and Ian Watson, and UK violist Carol Ella and cellist Richard Jenkinson. They have performed widely within the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland and has twice toured Japan. The Quartet has been honoured with the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Chamber Music and has also received international awards for its recordings.

In addition to their regular series at the Baxter, the Cape Town Concert Series occasionally collaborates with artists for a more intimate concert experience of music and conversation. St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Greenpoint is well known for string concerts – particularly with the Cape Town Baroque Ensemble – and it also provides for a relaxed environment to meet the musicians after the concert and hear more about their music making.

The programme will include Haydn’s ‘Sunrise Quartet’ in B-flat major,
Plan & Elevation – the Grounds of Dumbarton Oaks by Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer Caroline Shaw
Frank Bridges: Three Idylls
Beethoven: String Quartet Nr 16, Op. 135

Date: 18 October, 19.30

Tickets R210 (regular) / R190 (pensioners) / R100 (students) including a complementary glass of wine/water after the concert
