CTCS Presents Bryan Wallick Piano Recital
11 June 2022 at 11:00
| R160 – R200The Cape Town Concert Series is delighted to present pianist Bryan Wallick for his piano recital which has been postponed since 2020 due to the Covid Pandemic
Bryan will present a mix of Virtuosic Fugues with works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Marc-André Hamelin, Chopin and Rachmaninoff
Bryan was one of South Africa’s favourite pianists until he returned to his native America to take up a teaching position. He is also establishing himself as a virtuoso pianist in the US. In addition to a prolific solo career he is also a passionate chamber musician and during Covid joined with violinist Frank Stadler in Austria and cellist Peter Martens in Cape Town in a ground breaking trio performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in an inter-continental virtual collaboration across three continents which won the KykNet Fiesta Award for Best Achievement in Classical Music for South Africa 2020.
Bryan has recently been appointed as assistant professor of piano at Colorado State University where he lives with his wife and three children.
The concert takes place in the Baxter Concert Hall at 11am and will follow with a short in-conversation where Bryan will talk more about the music and answer questions from the audience.
