The Cape Town Concert Series once again collaborates with the Cape Town Baroque Festival to celebrate Heritage Day and bring you Baroque with a Twist featuring two multi talented musicians – Dutch violin virtuoso Tim Kliphuis and South African pianist Charl du Plessis.

Both musicians are well known for their unique crossover style of improvisation, combined with classical training, and this concert will showcase their skills between baroque, classical and jazz and provides a unique start to this years Baroque Festival which will span a week of concerts and talks all across Cape Town.

The concert takes place in the Baxter Concert Hall at 11am and also includes a short in-conversation with Tim and Charl where we hear more about their music and take questions from the audience.

About the Artists:

Tim Kliphuis is one of the best-known improvising violinists in the world. His award-winning brand of high-octane gypsy jazz and classical mashups has taken him to America, Europe, and Africa. Tim has shared the stage with Les Paul, Richard Galliano, Frankie Gavin and Daniel Hope.

Charl du Plessis is a Steinway Artist and master of crossover music. His unique style of fusion piano has been heard in performances in Europe, Asia and America. He has shared the stage with Chick Corea, Joja Wendt and has been the collaborative pianist for Nataniël for more than two decades.
