Concerts Connect is a new innovative series of concerts which will be live-streamed to audiences from iconic venues around the Western Cape – made possible by the new media allowances under level 4 of lockdown. The first concert will feature pianist Luis Magalhaes and violinist Alissa Margulis – who has been unable to leave South Africa since the lockdown in March. They are presenting this concert exclusively for established Music Societies such as ourselves in recognition of the world-class performances we have presented over the years. This concert helps us to give back to our existing patrons as well as grow new audiences and support musicians in need.

They will present a diverse programme featuring Beethoven’s Spring Sonata and other works by Dvorak, Kreisler, Schumann, Brahms, Paradis and Saint-Saëns.

In order to watch the concert live, this coming Sunday 24th May – we are selling tickets online for R100 per household and we would like to encourage you to spread the word to friends who might also enjoy this event.  Whilst the Concert Series needs to raise funds at this time, we also know how many artists are currently struggling and we will be donating half the proceeds to the Theatre Benevolent Fund for musicians who have fallen on hard times.  If you or any friends would like to purchase a ticket- you can do so online via Quicket at the address link below. If you have trouble with this please contact me directly and I will arrange a ticket for you.

The broadcast starts at 3.30pm with a full introduction before the concert itself starting at 4. The broadcast will also be available for 72 hours thereafter.

The concert is a collaboration with the Knysna Music Society, Overstrand Arts/Kunste and KayTee Soirees who will each be selling tickets via Quicket. This also gives us opportunity to invite audiences from anywhere in the world to support our series here.

We hope you will enjoy this new initiative, and are also very keen to hear your feedback on your experience.  Depending on the feedback we receive, we will look at further online chamber music events in the future.  We will also keep you posted on future concerts by Concerts Connect which will include a solo recital by Nina Schumann on 14 June, and a recital by the TwoPianists Piano Duo on 5 July.
