Dear Music Lovers

The Cape Town Concert Series continues to seek out the finest chamber music and recitals available in the country and our next four concerts have some of the finest new generation artists from South Africa and abroad.  We feature programmes and instrument combinations that blend the familiar with new and we hope you will enjoy exploring the music with us. The series runs from 16 August to 23 November and booking is now open at Webtickets. If you would like to book for all 4 concerts and reserve your chosen seat, then contact me on info@ctconcerts.co.za for more details. All the programme details and more can be found at http://www.ctconcerts.co.za

But there is no shortage of wonderful chamber music to get you through the month ahead – the foremost being the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival which opens tonight and runs through to the 14th July.  So much music making in 10 days it’s impossible to list the highlights. With an international and local faculty of world class musicians performing and coaching over 300 music students from across the country, there are daytime concerts, masterclasses and incredible evening events.  All the details are on the www.sicmf.co.za website and you can click here for a Festival Summary.

While the SACollege of Music is also taking a break (returning on 30th with the Guilette Price Jazz Quintet)  there are a couple of Tuesday evening concerts at the Baxter to enjoy.  Firstly there is an “extra” collaboration on Tuesday 16th July at 7pm with South African violinist Charlotte Potgieter and pianist Tertia Visser. Their hour long programme features works by Schubert, Grieg and Charlotte’s father Johann Hendrik Potgieter, plus a night themed Suite of works by female composers Boulanger, Potgieter, Bacewicz and Clarke. Tickets from Webtickets

The following Tuesday features the finals of the Fine Music Radio Bursary Trust awards for classical instrumental and vocal music.  Starting at 6.30pm, tickets are free of charge but you can book your seat in advance through Webtickets and help support some of South Africa’s future rising stars  (there will be another session on Friday 26 July for Jazz and African finalists).

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

Kind regards
