Dear Music Lovers

Piano lovers are in for a treat this month – the Stellenbosch International Piano Symposium opened this week and features a host of wonderful concerts as well as the Hennie Joubert Piano Competition this coming Saturday 6th April in the Endler Hall. For more details visit  https://www.stellenboschsymposium.com/

Next Saturday 13th  April the Cape Town Concert Series brings Jan Jiracek von Arnim to the Baxter with a programme of Liszt, Chopin and Beethoven.

Described by BBC Music Magazine as ‘a forceful, mature personality with a formidable technique and playing of emotional depth’, Jan Jiracek von Arnim made his public début in Hamburg playing a Mozart concerto at age 11. Now he performs extensively throughout Europe, USA, Japan and China.  He is a renowned teacher and is also a frequent juror at high-profile competitions, and his biography of Franz Liszt (Franz Liszt: Visionär und Virtuose. Eine Biographie) has been described as the very best possible Liszt biography.

For more insight into the programme, Albert Combrink has once again compiled some notes to take you Inside the Concert and you can find them here and on our website www.ctconcerts.co.za

Then on Saturday 27th April we will feature an Extra concert with pianist Daniel Kharitonov who will celebrate the music of Rachmaninoff and Chopin. Daniel is a Russian pianist, composer, and child prodigy, regarded by many as one of the most exciting young pianists on the circuit today.

Both concerts take place at 3pm in the Baxter Concert Hall.

Both pianists are also playing for the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Autumn Season.  Tickets are available for all the concerts from Webtickets

We look forward to welcoming you once again to the Cape Town Concert Series. If you have any queries, do let us know.

Kind regards
