"... technique, sensitivity and poise ..."
"... an ability to project emotion and to play with command effortlessly." – Cincinnati Enquirer
American pianist BRYAN WALLICK, who counts among many other top awards the Gold Medal at the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition, made his Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut the following year, launching a highly successful performing career in the United States. After initial advanced musical study at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music in Ohio, he went on to receive a Master of Music degree with distinction at the Juilliard School in New York City where he studied under the renowned teacher, Jerome Lowenthal. He then studied under Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, subsequently making an acclaimed Wigmore Hall recital debut in 2003, followed by appearances in concert with leading British and European orchestras. Today his busy concert schedule sees him performing regularly in the United States, simultaneously developing a flourishing career in Europe. Gifted with the ability to see colour with each musical pitch – synaesthesia - he recently received a grant from the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts in Arizona to explore this phenomenon in a multimedia project that will allow the audience to see the colours he experiences while performing. In recent seasons he has performed with the Cincinnati Pops, Illinois Philharmonic, Kentucky Symphony and Kentucky Symphony Orchestras under the direction of, among others, Erich Kunzel and Marvin Hamlisch, and given recitals in Luxembourg, Denmark and the Virgin Islands.
