Acclaimed Serbian violinist STANKO MADIC, who began violin study at the age of six, was admitted at the age of only fourteen to the Belgrade Academy of Music as a front-rank student. He graduated from the Academy in 2002 as the best student, and two years later, at the age of nineteen was awarded a Master's degree. The winner of top prizes and special awards at national and international competitions in Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Italy, he is today established as one of the sought-after violinists of the younger generation in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, and is regularly engaged not only in those countries but also generally in Europe and parts of Asia to perform in concert with leading orchestras, give recitals, broadcast on radio and television and appear at important summer festivals. He has been soloist on the tours of several orchestras including the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, which opened the Cirenie Talentov International Music Competition of which Stanko was himself the winner. As an ardent chamber musician he is the leader of the string trio Sonore and the piano trio Energico. Stanko Madic currently assists the violin pedagogue Professor Megumi Teshima at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia.

After gaining Master's degrees in both Music and Engineering from the University of Pretoria, PIETER JACOBS furthered his studies as a Fulbright Scholar at Yale University in the United States where he studied piano under Boris Berman, chamber music with the Tokyo String Quartet among others and performed in the masterclasses of Claude Frank and Peter Frankl. While in America he pursued his l performing career with considerable success as a soloist and chamber musician in Boston, Cambridge and New Haven, while continuing his research at Boston University into aspects of the motor control of piano playing. Back in South Africa he has given recitals in all the major centres, performed as soloist with the various orchestras and appeared as pianist for some of the country's foremost chamber ensembles. In 2003 he performed in Belgium as pianist of the Aulos Trio. Pieter Jacobs currently teaches at the University of Pretoria.
